Terms And Conditions

These terms apply to all courses, charters and experiences booked with Associated Marine Training / AMT Boat Experiences Ltd. By booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to them.

Booking and Payment
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your course, charter or experience.
Occasionally, by prior arrangement with us, we may agree a deposit and a payment plan. Any such plan will be set out when you book, and the full balance must be received no later than 14 days before the start date.

Minimum Numbers and Course Confirmation
Scheduled courses run subject to minimum numbers: 2 students for practical powerboat courses and 4 students for classroom (shorebased) courses. We will confirm whether your course is going ahead no later than 7 days before the start date. If it has not reached the minimum, we will offer you the choice of:

• moving to another date at no extra cost;
• going ahead as a one-to-one or small-group course for an additional fee, which we will confirm before you decide; or
• a full refund of everything you have paid for that course.

We recommend that you do not book non-refundable travel or accommodation until your course has been confirmed.

Cancellations by You
If you cancel more than 30 days before the start date, 85% of the course or charter fee will be refunded.
If you cancel between 14 and 30 days before the start date, 50% of the course or charter fee will be refunded.
No refund will be issued for cancellations made within 14 days of the start date.
You may transfer your place to another person at no charge, provided they meet the course requirements.
In exceptional circumstances, at our discretion, we may offer to move your booking to a later date.

Changes by Us
We may need to change or cancel a course, charter or experience because of adverse weather, mechanical failure, staff illness or other circumstances beyond our control. If this happens, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
We are not liable for any additional costs you may incur as a result of changes (for example, accommodation or travel costs).

Safety and Weather
All on-the-water activities depend on the weather. The decision of the instructor or skipper on whether it is safe to go afloat is final.
If part of a course cannot be completed because of the weather, we will arrange for you to complete it on another date at no extra cost.

Eligibility and Age
Minimum ages follow RYA guidance: Powerboat Level 2, 12 years; Powerboat Intermediate, 16 years; Advanced Powerboat, 17 years; VHF/SRC exam, 16 years.
Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Students must meet the prerequisites for each course, as shown on our website or provided at the time of booking.

Course Times and Certificates
Courses start at 09:30 unless we tell you otherwise. Please arrive in good time, as late arrival may mean that parts of the course cannot be completed.
RYA certificates are issued on successful completion of the course, based on the instructor’s assessment.

Client Responsibilities
All participants must follow the safety instructions and guidance given by our instructors and skippers.
Clients must declare any relevant medical conditions at the time of booking or before boarding.
Anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to take part, and no refund will be given.
Participants must treat vessels, equipment and other guests with respect. Damage caused through negligence will be chargeable.

Insurance
Associated Marine Training holds full public liability insurance.
We recommend that clients take out personal travel insurance that covers marine activities, including course or charter cancellations.

Photography and Marketing
From time to time we may take photos or videos during courses or charters for use in our marketing. Please let us know before your session if you would prefer not to be included.

Marketing Emails and Your Data
We will only send you news about other courses, offers and events if you tick the “I agree to receive updates” box when booking, or otherwise ask to hear from us. Booking confirmations and essential information about your course, charter or experience will always be sent.

Gift Vouchers
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue and are non-refundable.
Vouchers must be presented at the time of booking and are subject to course availability.
