No formal prerequisites. We adapt coaching to your level; absolute beginners are welcome.

Either. We can run days on our school boat or on your own vessel (subject to safety and equipment).

Q: Where do courses run?

Usually Hamble Point Marina, Southampton (SO31 4NB), with Solent itineraries. Other pick-ups by arrangement.

Q: How is the discount applied?

Book the three courses together and we apply 20% off the combined price at confirmation.

Q: Is this an RYA qualification?

These are training/coaching days (not a single qualification). Where relevant, individual days map to RYA skills and recommended pathways.

Q: How many people can attend?

Small groups for maximum helm time (typically up to 4 on the school boat). Own-boat numbers depend on coding and safe capacity.

Experience Required & Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required. Packages can be tailored to your experience level and may include introductory training if you’re new to motorboating.

Helpful (but not essential) experience includes:

Basic helmsmanship or handling under power
Experience crewing or skippering a motorboat
Previous training such as RYA Helmsman or Powerboat Level 2

If you’re unsure where to start, we’ll recommend the most suitable package based on your experience.

Hamble Point Marina and surrounding Solent marinas
Southampton Water
Lymington and local Solent waters
Your own marina (where applicable, if using your vessel)
