Newly qualifying RYA Dinghy/Windsurfing Instructors, Senior Instructors and Level 2 Racing Coaches, plus volunteers and staff who work with children or vulnerable adults at RYA clubs or training centres.

Q: Is the course fully online and how long does it take?

Yes. It’s 100% online and typically takes about 3 hours to complete at your own pace.

Q: Is this mandatory for new instructors and coaches?

Yes—it's essential for newly qualifying Dinghy & Windsurfing Instructors, Senior Instructors and Level 2 Racing Coaches.

Q: Does the certificate expire?

There’s no fixed expiry, but we recommend regular refreshers in line with your club/centre policy (often every 3 years).

Q: Is a DBS check included?

No. DBS/Disclosure checks are separate and arranged by your club or centre.

Q: What topics are covered?

Safeguarding principles, recognising signs of abuse, good-practice guidelines and how to report concerns.

Q: How is it assessed and what do I receive?

Through interactive scenarios and quizzes. You’ll receive a completion certificate.

Q: Can I complete it on a phone or tablet?

Yes—any modern browser on desktop, tablet or mobile is fine.

Q: Can clubs bulk-enrol multiple participants?
