The Powerboat Tidal Berthing Training Session is a bespoke, practical training experience designed to help skippers build real confidence when manoeuvring in tidal waters. Delivered by Associated Marine Training, these focused sessions help you understand how to work with the tide rather than against it, improving boat handling, positioning and decision-making in close-quarters situations.
This training is ideal if you already have basic boat handling skills but find tidal marinas, flowing rivers or berthing in tide-affected conditions challenging or stressful.
Our bespoke tidal berthing sessions combine targeted theory with hands-on practical coaching in a small-group environment.
Training is scheduled during selected months of the year, typically February through to May, when tidal conditions on the Beaulieu River provide an ideal real-world learning environment. Session dates are planned around suitable tides to ensure the most effective and realistic training experience.
You’ll cover:
Focused Tidal Theory (Location-Specific)
Practical Tidal Manoeuvres
The session is delivered in a calm, supportive environment, allowing you to build confidence progressively and ask questions throughout.
This training session is ideal for:
No formal powerboat qualifications are required.
This training is best suited to boaters who already have a basic understanding of boat handling and want to improve their confidence and control in tidal environments, particularly when manoeuvring in close quarters.
This is a confidence-building skills session rather than a formal RYA syllabus course.
Powerboat Tidal Berthing Training Sessions are delivered in suitable tidal locations, selected to provide realistic and effective learning conditions.
